Peter Sharkey Memorial Award

Peter Sharkey

In November of 2011, minor hockey in Prince Edward Island lost one of its biggest supporters when Peter lost his battle to cancer at the young age of 53. His dedication, commitment and passion helped dreams come true for so many young athletes who just wanted to play hockey. Sportsmanship refers to virtues such as fairness, respect, courage, and persistence, all qualities that Peter himself demonstrated in his everyday life. Peter’s family is honored that a trophy will be awarded annually in his memory to a Midget player who demonstrates the most sportsmanlike play throughout the tournament.
